1. We all learned a lot. We learned a lot about each other (who of the students would love to be a professional singer, the depth of the students' compassion, the length of the chaperones commitment to the students, etc...) AND a lot about God's world. We learned what it meant to DO JUSTICE, not just talk about it. We learned what it meant to LOVE KINDNESS, not just a surface sort of polite, but to find joy in making others happy! So yes, we learned a lot!
2. We worked HARD! These students were relentless - whatever task was put before them the did with a glad and generous heart. It was impressive to watch each one of these students (and adult partners) dig into their work and see the difference it made in the lives of people.
3. We don't have to go all the way to New York to help! The students and adults have already committed to working the Community Meal in August! These students will indeed become leaders in the area of alleviating hunger in the area! The students are talking and planning on ways to remain a unified group while meeting the needs of the hungry RIGHT HERE!
4. We're already excited about Detroit next summer! I think I'll get some sleep soon so that I can be ready! :)
Peace and joy, everyone!!
